Description

Sovereign Edward VII – Great Britain gold coin

The British gold sovereign bearing the portrait of King Edward VII is one of the most popular British gold coins of the early 20th century. These sovereigns were issued from 1902 to 1910 during the reign of King Edward VII and continued Great Britain’s long tradition of gold coinage.

The obverse shows the portrait of King Edward VII by British sculptor George William de Saulles, and the reverse the classic image of St George slaying the dragon, created by Italian artist Benedetto Pistrucci. This motif has become one of the most famous symbols of British coinage.
